Panopterus has great hearing thanks to its very large ears and an incredible sens of smell to compensate the loss of echolocation, no longer needed for hunting large prey items. Typical hunt tactic for Panopterus is to ambush large prey from the sky or dense tree patches and land a devastating bite that cause severe bleeding before retreating. It then waits sometimes for days for its victim to bleed out or being too weak to fight back and come to land the finishing blow Panopterus while being capable of flight is not known to have great agility in the sky, it rather soar with limited wing movements using updrafts to take altitude. Its wing skin fold very easily, facilitating movement in the caves where it nest , sleep and consumes iron. While sleeping it curls its tail toward its belly , forming a ball of sharp scales to deter off small animals that might disturb its sleep. Teeth are reinforced with iron particules, giving them an orange tint and making them incredibly sharp . The shinier the teeth, the stronger the panopterus is . Panopterus also show its teeth as a threatening display. Panopterus isn’t agressive toward humans, seeing them as far too small to bother to hunt. But adventurers be wary to never enter the cavernous den of these creatures without scent mask, for they are known to kill off everything that come to close to their precious iron ore deposits. The modified scales covering Panopterus body are made of keratin , making them solid and lightweight , only a powerful bludgeoning blow could shatter them. Panopterus often loses scales when fighting in breeding season or to mark their territory.
